The Neurobiology of Collaboration: Why Men
and Women Differ in Leadership Style
Growing
evidence suggests that leaders make a difference in both engagement and health
of talent. Current studies suggest that women lead differently from men and that
the basis for these differences might involve three things: socialization,
anatomical brain structure and hormones.
Ken will be presenting his own research and those of
others addressing the following:
■
How
women leaders generally tend to use different leadership styles compared to
males
■
Whether
research supports that men are more effective leaders than women
■
How
the pro-social hormone oxytocin may be a key neurological contributor to the
"tend and befriend” stress response and a "signature” for increased empathy,
trust and collaboration that is more pronounced in women
