Mira Gold Development Scholarship
Scholarship Guidelines
The Mira Gold Professional Development Scholarship is for ASTD Los Angeles members who are pursuing the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential (CPLP). The goal of the scholarship is to aid learning and development practitioners in the goal of enhancing professional growth and promote ASTD’s premier credential.
The scholarship will be awarded to two individuals, providing them with the tools necessary to complete their CPLP certifications. The Primary recipient will receive the official CPLP Learning System, the CPLP Practice exam and the CPLP Testing fee (approximately a $1300 value). The secondary recipient will receive the official CPLP Learning System and the CPLP Practice exam. (approximately a $600 value).
Eligibility for scholarship
Each applicant must be a member of ASTD LA. The applicant will be required to fill out a scholarship application and write a 600 – 750 word essay. The essay should cover why they want the CPLP, why they believe they need it, how they will use it and why they are a unique applicant. This essay should not exceed 1000 words.

Award Selection Process
The Committee will meet in November (actual date TBD) to select a primary award recipient and a secondary award recipient. The Committee may request to interview finalist prior to selecting the award recipient. Applicants will be scored in four areas; quality of goal, personal confidence in achievability, applicability of the CPLP in their career and personal challenges/barriers (optional). The recipients will be notified via email by the Director of Membership by January 30.
Awardees Responsibilities
After winning an award, each recipient will be required agree to allow ASTD LA to use all or part of their essay in publication for an unlimited number years. Each recipient must also submit a professional photograph of themselves for publication.

of high qualified recipients. We are in need of equally high caliber people to
preside over the Scholarship Selection Committee. The ASTD-LA Board is in search
